The UK’s leading technology and research centre for offshore renewable energy. Supporting the development of innovation, supply chain growth and offering testing and validation facilities.
Technology Development Centre from ORE Catapult
A brand new state-of-the-art primary technology development centre from ORE Catapult. The facility features:
-1MW drivetrain test rig to evaluate rotating machine components
-Mini electrical grid system where clients can test and certify the electrical compliance of their devices for any grid in the world.
-100kW test rig, dedicated to smaller scale subsystems and early-stage proof of concept work.
-Dedicated laboratory to improve the longevity, reliability and performance of critical components working under extreme conditions.
Digital, Autonomous and Robotics Engineering (DARE) Centre from ORE Catapult
The DARE Centre is a first-of-its-kind UK facility, providing developers, researchers and industry with a unique environment to test, demonstrate and commercialise cutting-edge digital and robotic solutions. The facility features:
-Robotics assembly bay
-Airborne robotics test zone
-Three dry docks with 20,000m3 capacity and test control rooms linked to the docks via a live environment monitoring system

Energy Central Institute
Construction is expected to begin this year on the Energy Central Institute (ECI), the second phase of the Energy Central campus. The ECI will deliver higher-level technical training, specialist research programmes and industry-aligned innovation facilities, helping to cement Blyth as a centre for offshore wind research and higher education.
