Equinor Continues Platinum Sponsorship of Energy Central Campus, Supporting Skills for a Low-Carbon Future

Energy Central Campus (ECC) is delighted to share that Equinor, a leading international energy company, has renewed its Platinum Business Sponsorship for a further year, continuing its support for ECC’s mission to develop the skilled workforce required for the clean energy transition.

The continuation of this partnership reflects Equinor’s commitment to skills and workforce development, recognising the critical role that industry-aligned training plays in enabling the growth of clean energy technologies and infrastructure.

Through its ongoing Platinum sponsorship, Equinor will continue to engage with ECC’s skills programme, helping to inform training provision and ensure learners are equipped with the practical, future-ready skills needed to support
the evolving energy sector.

Martin Lawlor OBE, Chair of ECC, commented: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Equinor as a Platinum Business Sponsor of ECC. As demand for clean energy grows, it is essential that skills provision evolves alongside the sector. Equinor’s continued involvement helps ensure our training remains closely aligned with industry needs and focused on building the workforce required for the future of the clean energy sector.”

Tom Nightingale, Equinor Local Supply Chain Manager, said: “Equinor is proud to continue its partnership with Energy Central Campus in developing the future workforce of the offshore wind industry. With our new North East based operations facility being the home to the Dogger Bank, the world’s largest offshore wind farm, investing in local skills is a top priority. Together, we are building the high-level skills needed to power the UK’s energy transition.”

ECC is a unique skills partnership between the Port of Blyth, Northumberland County Council, and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, with a mission to create the pipeline of talent required for the expanding clean energy sector, at the same time, inspiring, training, and delivering pathways to employment for the local community.

ECC is part of the £95m Energising Blyth regeneration programme to grow, renew, and connect the town. It is being delivered by Northumberland County Council and funded by the UK Government, Northumberland County Council and North East Combined Authority, with support from other partners.
