Battleship Wharf offers a quay-linked opportunity for investors who operate in the marine, offshore and renewable energy sector. The 17ha Terminal benefits from a rail loading facility and is a site increasingly used for wind farm mobilisations.

Location

Located on Port of Blyth, Battleship Wharf offers investors quay-linked development land. The site offers fantastic connectivity via Blyth’s deep water port and nearby access to the A1(M) and A19 via the A189 arterial road.

Battleship Wharf at the Port of Blyth has built up a strong, well‑recognised specialism in subsea and offshore power cables, particularly serving the offshore wind sector in the North Sea.

Battleship Wharf

The busy Battleship Wharf Terminal is increasingly used for wind farm mobilisations, project cargoes and is home to both the Port’s fully licenced 2.3HA offshore decommissioning facility and a cable storage area with a fixed carousel. The terminal also handles dry bulk and breakbulk cargoes.

The terminal is served by four deep water berths, all strengthened for heavy lift operations, accommodating vessels of 9m LAT. The terminal contains more than 10,000 sq. m of modern, purpose-built warehousing and 10HA of open storage/development land available. A rail loading facility offers fast access to and from the UK freight railway network with provision for trains up to 420m in length.

The Port’s unique decommissioning facility operated in partnership with Thompsons of Prudhoe, combines the Port’s offshore energy cargo-related handling capabilities with Thompsons of Prudhoe’s decommissioning and demolition expertise, offering customers a first-class service based on quality, safety, and performance. The Port has established a great track record of successful high-profile decommissioning projects and the site is well-placed to support further major projects in the North Sea and beyond.

All operational terminals at the Port benefit from a wide range of handling equipment and experience for lifting project pieces up to 600 tonne and moving pieces up to 2,500 tonnes by RoRo and SPMTs.

“For us, Northumberland was the obvious choice. It’s well located in terms of Dogger Bank and other zones including Hornsea, and well supported by infrastructure and assets right across the North East region. It’s also well positioned in terms of proximity to planned investment off the Scottish coast and that potential market”
