Northumberland has an established and growing food and drink production cluster. Food and drink manufacturers and producers recognise the strength of the talent pool across Northumberland and relatively low operational costs. Through its excellent road, rail and port infrastructure means moving products easily and efficiently from production source. Companies such as Sweet Dreams Confectionery, Polar Krush Iced Drinks Company and DecoPac all call Northumberland home.

Northumberland is also a significant producer of food goods through our natural assets and farming pedigree, the County is leading the way in niche products being exported all of the world. Indeed, we have seen rural Northumberland is capitalising on growing demands for distinctive, high quality, locally-sourced food: Culpitt and Silvery Tweed are examples of successful niche producers and products like Craster Kippers and Lindisfarne Oysters have an international reputation.

Northumberland is home to Plant Based Valley (PBV) – a unique cluster set within 385,000 sq. ft of modern production, innovation, office and warehousing space supporting vegan product scale up and production. Plant Based Valley allows manufacturing and production scale operations for plant based products to sit alongside local agricultural suppliers to provide innovation partnerships and rural growth and development.
